The beauty of leftovers is a textile collection that has been developed in which the processing of leftovers (= yarn remnants) is central. Maud does not see the leftovers as waste, but as usable material with which she can create many different knits.
Every sample is unique because every batch of leftovers is different and requires a different way of knitting. A goal of the knitted samples is showing the versatility of the collection.
Which stems from her passion for knitting, a strong eye for detail as well as thorough research into materials.
The beauty of leftovers consists of three line within the collection; tunnelbaan, transparant duo and Hier en daar. All three are a fusion of the technique used to create the sample and a visual aspect of the samples. For example transparant duo was created by manually knitting in rows of two and, obviously, has a transparant look.
The intuitive color ways show how broad you can knit with the same techniques and material, giving every sample a different outcome. Every sample has it's own name, given by my connection with nature.
