Designing and knitting my own scarf
Throughout my internship I got the opportunity to design a scarf. Starting off in mostly Illustrator to design my scarf pattern, I created multiple options. After loading the final one into Photoshop to make it knitable and exporting it to M1 Plus to program it for the STOLL machine.
Ahluwalia bodysuit
(f.l.t.r) From taking the measurements from a basic bodysuit and the tech pack from Ahluwalia I created the pattern in Illustrator, as well as the pattern remake. Then we looked at the placement of the pattern in Create Design and after the programmers checked it they knitted a sample. On the right you see the final bodysuit worn at
Creating content for Thijs Verhaar Instagram
As an intern I thought of the concepts behind the posts, wrote captions, took the pictures and edited them.
Posts about KNITWEAR LAB, behind the scenes and some inside information were part of the content. Check out the instagram to see more.
Product photography
I took some pictures for the Thijs Verhaar scarf collection, which are shown on the website to give an overview of the scarf.
I enjoyed trying out different angles and picking up photography again.
Pattern placement for MAXXIJ
I also had the opportunity to help a programmer with pattern placement and file preparation for programming in M1plus. Below you can see the try-outs in Illustrator and Photoshop, finding out the measurements and ways to repeat/edit the pattern. This was quite the learning curve for me, but I enjoyed the process.
Knitwear course
I participated in KNITWEAR LAB's Industrial Knitwear Course, where I learned the basics on the STOLL machines (ADF-16/CMS530) and had an introduction in programming on the M1plus.I loved getting to know the machines and seeing the whole process from idea till knitted sample.
KNITWEAR LAB'S production Lab In Istanbul
I ended my internship in Istanbul, mostly watching the programmers, linkers and machine operators. Also doing a bit of production work, like finishing off the fabrics was part of this awesome trip.
